Speed Interview with Tom Igoe

by Zachary Menegakis on August 14, 2015

What do you plan to do at this years OHS?
Mostly listen. I haven’t been to OHS the last couple of years, and I’m interested to hear what people are talking about now.

What’s your most used OS electronic or component?
Arduino of many flavors. They’re my main building block.

Favorite website of the moment?
It’s a toss-up between the Guardian and the Economist. Both offer well-researched and edited stories that are informative and thought-provoking. I don’t always agree with either one, and that’s what makes them both useful to me.

What are you working on or thinking about right now?
Working on a personal project, a bit of lighting for an event I’ve got coming up. The project is a gift, and it’s also an opportunity to work with friends and colleagues on something expressive, which is something I don’t get to do often enough.

What’s your favorite junk food?
Rice pudding.

How can we find out more about you?
I blog occasionally at http://tigoe.net/blog. I write about technical stuff at http://tigoe.net/pcomp/code. More recent code I’ve worked on is available at http://www.github.com/tigoe. I work at http://itp.nyu.edu, and I’m a co-founder of http://www.arduino.cc. I think that’s all the URLs.

Can you share a picture of what describes you?
Here is my Christmas tree from last year. Every time a bell rings on the tree, an angel gets its wings. http://www.tigoe.com/pcomp/code/arduinowiring/1249/
